Things are going pretty good. I’m on Day 17 of tapering down. Less of a taper and more like one step down then cold turkey. It’s Day 5 of being completely clean.
I do experience heartburn a little bit sometimes, but I’m taking precautions very seriously. I never lay down in the day, not even resting on the couch, which I used to do a lot. And I don’t eat any big meals at all. Small meals, more frequently. And of course, no trigger foods like coffee, chocolate, mint, fried food. No processed foods at all.
I did notice that when I lay down to sleep, I cough. But that only lasts about an hour. And I think the trigger there is the last meal of the day. I’m making sure I eat my last meal at least 5 hours before bed. And I make sure it’s non-fat.
I’m hopeful that late night eating was what caused the strictures that put me on omeprazole in the first place.
I’m struggling to sleep elevated with a wedge. It’s completely uncomfortable, and feels like I’m suspended in the air unsupported. That’s not working for me at all.
I gotta admit, I do feel better in general. I have quit all ultra-processed foods, salt, sugar, acid, alcohol, chocolate, etc. Eating lots of leafy greens and fruit. Everything lowfat. But I can’t tell how much of that is psychological, knowing I’ve quit all the crap has given me hope. How much of feeling better is the hopeful feeling? I’m actually not sure.
