I cranked it up to 80 bpm, a new top speed.  I could barely hang in there, and it was a bit sloppy. I went at it until I was too fatigued.  I checked the recording and was shocked that I only lasted 2.5 minutes.  Wow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think it&#8217;s probably better to bring it down to a more reasonable tempo (for me) but practice longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/johnnycarlos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PracticeLog15-2025.10.26-KickExercises-80bpm.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m starting to think about a daily routine I want to develop.  I want to do this consistently.  Doing a little bit every day is better than anything else&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far I&#8217;m thinking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>16 th kicks. 70 bpm. 5 minutes. For stamina.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quad Stroke, emphasizing beat 1.  5 minutes.  For developing ghost notes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paradiddles while kick\/snare on eighth notes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16 th kick matrix 5 mins.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Isolate the left hand. 5 mins.  Focus on my weakness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improvise to music. 5 mins.  For fun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sixteenth matrix on snare, kick hi-hat ostinato.  5 mins.  To unlock limb independence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possibly something from Syncopation book.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s my first pass brainstorm attempt at what I think I&#8217;ll start doing daily for about 30 minutes.  I&#8217;m sure it will change and develop.
