And boy howdy.  6 kicks per measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also tried recording my acoustic kit for the first time.  So many firsts lately, it&#8217;s great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recording is just using one Shure SM58 in the room&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/johnnycarlos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PracticeLog9-2025.10.21-BasicRockBeat125bpm.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I could not hear the metronome at all through my Vic Virth earmuffs.  The drums overpowered it.  I also tried wearing earplugs, cranking up the metronome in the earmuffs, but that wasn&#8217;t much of a solution.
