I came across a Hacker News post regarding the year’s most popular bloggers. And the first one really struck me. It’s Simon Willison and his approach to running a link blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been blogging off and on (mostly off) since blogging was a thing. I usually lose interest and end up deleting my effort. But this site seems to be remaining for some reason. Mostly to track my progress in things that I learn and to help keep me motivated to purse learning more. But I really like his suggestion that: “Sharing interesting links with commentary is a low effort, high value way to contribute to internet life at large”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do feel like the internet is dying. Walled gardens and bots talking to bots on social media. And a part of me that keeps getting older and older doesn’t want to let go of the joy I found in the early days of computing. When it was something special. I want to cling to the good old days. For better or for worse, I guess. Despite my best effort of trying not to get nostalgic, the internet was better back then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintaining a blog may be one of the ways for me to help keep that part alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
