If your snare sits too low and you think you need a taller stand, make sure that you are mounting the snare on the tips of the claw, like so:
I mounted mine settled on the base of the claw. Mounting on the tips gave me the extra inch that I needed.
And I was on the cusp of going out and buying a concert snare stand until I realized I could do this instead. It seems the standard snare goes to about 24 inches high, and concert stands start at 26 inches. It puzzled me why there wasn’t something in-between?
