Last night I scored a Pearl piccolo snare off FB Marketplace for $120. Pretty pumped about that. I see people playing break beats on YouTube and I immediately think: I want to do that! But.. I’m far from being able to, though I have the snare for it now. Still, the piccolo will make this a more portable kit. Because, on another YouTube video in my feed, I saw a click bait-y one about what makes you a better than average drummer. And one suggestion stood out to me: you perform publicly. It struck me as something I should strive for. The best option I have for that is my local open mic. I’m going to set this kit up on the stage and volunteer myself as the house percussionist. We’ll see how that goes, lol. I’m nervous already.
Oh, and I also got a Meinl Bass Box. It sounds great! It’s not too loud for the indoor open mic, and will also help with portability. I also ordered some El Cheapo brand LV hi-hats from a major online retaiIer. And I’ll mute the snare with layers of fabric. So I present to you, my low volume portable drum it…

Also logged another hour of practice, including 4000 single strokes with my left hand.
