After doing a whole six and a half minutes of a kick drum exercise yesterday (whoa, I’m really getting up there!), I am suddenly able to adapt it and come up with my own version. So, instead of grinding out four sixteenths, I came up with a simple matrix of a bar of the first two sixteenths, followed by a bar of the first three sixteenths, followed by a bar of all for sixteenths. Kinda cool. I didn’t know I could do that. It feels like the right leg is starting to liberate itself from eighth notes.
Speaking of realizing things I didn’t know I could do, it also dawned on me that instead of just recording the e-drum audio or the e-drum midi, I could make two tracks and record them both simultaneously. Now we’re cooking with Crisco!
Anyways, here’s the exercise. Still needs to be tightened up, but hey, this was a first for me…
