Have insomnia this morning. And what’s the best thing to do at 3am when you cant sleep? Practice the drums, of course.
I searched online for exercises to help with my kick speed and came up with this Drumeo video.
I also moved my foot to the middle of the pedal and that has immediately improved my kicking.
And finally, I decided to stop recording e-drums as midi triggered samples and start recording the Roland sounds as audio output. Something always felt off when playing as samples. The kit seems to respond much better when played as the edrum gods intended.
This is a seriously great exercise. One I will definitely do every day until I get much better. And I’m certain that will be the case. He suggested beginner tempo is 60-70. I set it right at 65 bpm and went for it for a full five minutes…
