Book: Acid Watcher Diet

I’d like to personally thank The Algorithm for putting this video on my feed about the Acid Watcher Diet.

I got a lot out of it and immediately ordered the book.

The video drilled two things into my head:

  • There are foods that relax the lower esophageal sphincter. The biggest ones are: caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, and carbonated drinks. Anytime you ingest those things (and others), acid can leak up your esophagus, especially if you lay down.
  • Pepsin, an enzyme to digest protein, can escape the sphincter and attach itself all the way up to your nasal cavity. Anytime you eat or drink anything with a pH of 4 or less, pepsin becomes active and begins to digest you. This is what’s causing coughing and post nasal drip, not allergies.

Another thing he drilled into my head is simply: Do not lay down within 4 hours of eating. I of course knew that, but for some reason it’s really clicking into my head that it’s a very serious part of the “diet” as well.

Looking forward to learning more.
