I was messing with Ollama last night, giving my GPU a good workout. This morning I booted up my Ubuntu machine and the resolution was low. I was unable to change it in the graphics setting.
I thought for sure Ollama must have did something but that just threw me off the trail.
Posting about it here in case it happens again (funny enough, I actually do come here to remind myself of things I’ve done in the past).
The NVIDIA driver wasn’t loading. nvidia-smi was giving something about being unable to communicate to driver. This likely caused Ubuntu to fallback to default resolution.
The solution was to:
sudo apt update
sudo ubuntu-drivers list
sudo ubuntu-drivers install
sudo rebootAll is well and back to killing my 4Gb graphics card models that are much too big.
