Luck Journal 3

More practice in extroversion today. Stopped by the local brew pub this evening. On the patio were several people and in the bike racks I spotted a folding bike, one of my favorite kinds of bikes. I took a chance and asked the first person I saw if that was theirs and it was. Then we proceeded to have a nice conversation about folders. I’m only now just starting to get a feel for talking to people I wouldn’t normally strike up a conversation with, and I’m liking it. It’s getting easier to do. Reminds me of how I used to be afraid of public speaking until I tried Toastmasters and learned that I really enjoyed public speaking. Something about facing your fears and getting over them really changes everything.

Here’s my folder. And this was the luckiest score of all. It’s a 30th Anniversary Dahon Mu Uno. It was made in Europe and never released in the U.S. I don’t have any clue how it ended up here. But I found it used on Craiglist. In my arrogance, I made the seller an offer $50 less than their asking price. So he sold it to someone else. I was heart broken. But then he wrote me a few days later and said the buyer flaked. I was so happy. I’ll never make that mistake again.
