Today I learned I could play Magic the Gathering’s Arena on my Mac Air. And it runs amazingly well, better than my PC laptop. It loads faster and plays smoother. The other thing I also learned was that you can skip the Epic Games downloader which requires an Epic Games account and is the default when clicking download on the Arena website. The secret trick? Download Steam. I can’t stand the Epic Games requirement. I have an Epic Games account, but for some reason it thinks I live in Qatar, and refuses to let me download Arena claiming “it’s not available in your region”. I’ve submitted a help desk ticket and they can’t fix it. I’ve deleted the account(losing my achievements and digital currency), but when I create a new account it puts me right back in Qatar.
And my last and final surprise, was all the games available on Steam that run on the Mac. Wow! I’m shocked. This is the impetus I needed to dump my Windows machine and start using Mac exclusively (well, still keeping my Ubuntu machine for now). I can finally install Ableton to be used on a Mac, it’s native environment. Oh the joy!
